The Institutes Announce Two New Claims Courses
The Institutes announced the offering of two new claims courses. The first course, Catastrophe Claim Fundamentals, teaches adjusters how to effectively process catastrophic claims. The second course, Workers Compensation Claim Practices, covers the policies and standards within the workers compensation system, as well as the techniques used to investigate coverage and medical issues.
Catastrophe Claim Fundamentals is a self-study online course, focused on providing the knowledge needed for accurate, timely and efficient claim-handling in response to catastrophic circumstances. After completing the course, claims professionals will have a comprehensive overview of catastrophe claim fundamentals to scope losses for catastrophic events.
Workers Compensation Claim Practices is available in print or as a self-study online course. As part of the new Associate in Claims (AIC) Workers Compensation Track, the program is designed to help claims professionals drive powerful results in a complex claims environment by learning about medical benefits and how to conclude workers compensation claims.
The following courses are required to earn the AIC designation through the Workers Compensation Track:
AINS 21—Property and Liability Insurance Principles
AIC 30—Claim Handling Principles and Practices
AIC 37—Managing Bodily Injury Claims
AIC 44—Workers Compensation Claim Practices (new course)
Ethics 311—Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals or Ethics 312—Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct
