Tom Mallin Celebrates 35 Years With PLRB
Thomas W. Mallin recently celebrated his 35th anniversary with the Property and Liability Resource Bureau. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 2000 and then became president and chief executive officer in early 2004 when the PLRB was reorganized as a new company.
PLRB is an Ill.-based association of 900 property and casualty insurance companies.
He has led the PLRB through the transition from a division of another association to an independent company in 2004. Since then, Mallin has overseen substantial growth in the educational offerings of the PLRB to include heavily utilized distance learning modules for adjuster and attorney continuing education credit, professional development webinars, expansion of services in existing departments, and the creation of new departments to meet member company needs.
He was appointed research counsel at the Property Loss Research Bureau in 1978 and named senior vice president and general counsel of PLRB in 1998. He holds a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Mallin is a past-Chair of the Communications Committee of the ABA’s TIPS Section, a former vice chair of the TIPS Property Insurance Law Committee, and a former subcommittee chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of TIPS. He is a member of the Federation of insurance and Corporate Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, the Western Loss Association, and the Loss Executives Association.
