Amerisure Appoints Eric Spencer Vice President of Claims
Amerisure Mutual Insurance Co., insurer of mid-sized commercial enterprises in manufacturing, construction and healthcare across the nation, announced the appointment of Eric Spencer to vice president of Claims.
He joins Amerisure from QBE Insurance Co. where he served as senior vice president—Head of Middle Market Claims. Spencer reports to Greg Crabb, chief administrative officer with Amerisure.
In his new role, Spencer is responsible for the overall development and implementation of the Claims department’s policies, procedures and programs that align with Amerisure’s strategic and operational goals. He also oversees loss cost containment, staffing, budgeting, expense and claim-related customer service.
“Eric’s significant leadership experience and relationship building skills will prove invaluable to our organization,” said Crabb. “His strong commitment to customer service fits well with Amerisure’s focus on providing exceptional customer service.”
Spencer joins Amerisure with extensive experience in claims. During his tenure at QBE, he served in a variety of roles, including: vice president—head of Consolidated Support Services, vice president—Claims Shared Services and assistant vice president—head of Auto Line of Business. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Unigard Insurance Co., Zurich Insurance Co., Travelers Insurance Co. and Mercury Insurance Group.
According to Crabb, “With technical expertise across a broad product base—including property, casualty and Workers’ Compensation—Eric’s background complements our construction, manufacturing and healthcare solutions that we provide to our partner agencies and their clients.”
He holds a Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) designation from the American Educational Institute.
Spencer is replacing Don A. Smith, vice president of Claims with Amerisure, who is retiring after 41 years with Amerisure.
