People News: Kemper, Choice Solutions Services, Coalition Against Insurance Fraud
Robert Otis has joined Kemper Corporation as senior vice president, Preferred Home and Auto.
Otis will report to Duane Sanders, president of Kemper’s P&C Division, and will be based in Chicago. He will be responsible for Kemper’s national Preferred Home and Auto lines for individuals, families and businesses sold through an exclusive network of independent agencies.
Otis joins Kemper with nearly 30 years of experience in property/casualty insurance, previously holding executive positions with Allstate, USAA and Travelers. Most recently, he was President of National Lloyds Corporation, a regional property lines insurance company.
He holds a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.
Choice Solutions Services, Inc. appointed Mark S. Burnam president effective April 1st, 2018 to lead and oversee its U.S. operations that provide loss adjusting and claim management services to the property/casualty insurance industry, self-insured companies and various government sector agencies.
Burnam joins the Choice leadership team while also currently serving as CEO & president of Vennd Technologies. He successfully launched this start-up tech company to provide end-to-end claims management, vendor management and audio-video collaboration software tools for the property/casualty insurance industry.
Prior to this, Burnam served as chief operations officer for ICA, Inc., currently a Brown & Brown, Inc. company, for approximately eight years providing claim management services, as VP Strategic Development at ClaimForce, Inc. for nearly three years providing claim vendor management technology and related outsourced services, and as director of Claim Technology and Business Practices, as well as numerous other Claim, IT and Underwriting related roles over a 20 year span at Kemper Insurance.
Burnam holds certifications in General Insurance and Claims Management from the Insurance Institute of America.
Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak, chair of the NAIC’s Antifraud Task Force, has been named to the executive committee of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud.
Doak is serving a second straight year as chair of the NAIC’s Antifraud Task Force. He has hosted the National Tornado Summit since 2012. Doak also hosts a series of fraud conferences across Oklahoma every year to teach seniors how to avoid being scammed.
The Coalition’s Executive Committee is the organization’s leading policymaking panel. It focuses on strategy development and oversees major anti-fraud activities. The 12-member committee includes an equal number of board members representing public interest and for-profit organizations.
