PMA, Orchid Medical, Athens Group, Ametros, Hancock Make Appointments
PMA Companies Insurance Group has appointed Sabrina Mitchell as claims assistant vice president for its Southeast Region.
Mitchell reports to Ray DiCello, senior vice president and chief claims officer for PMA, which is based in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Mitchell joined PMA in 2004 as a regional claims supervisor and most recently served as a regional claims manager, directing PMA insurance company claims teams in nine states throughout the Southeast.
Mitchell has obtained the designations of Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist and Certified Workers’ Compensation Litigation Specialist. She currently attends the University of South Florida. She has spoken for ten consecutive years at the Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute Education Conference and serves on the Board of the Faith-Based Claims Association, PMA said.
Orchid Medical, an ancillary medical management provider for the workers’ compensation industry, has promoted Kellie Jackson to vice president of marketing.
Jackson will work closely with Chief Sales Officer Tim Howlin, the Orlando-based firm said in a press release.
Jackson joined Orchid three years ago as director of marketing. In 2016, she led a rebrand of Orchid as an ancillary services provider, Orchid said.
In her new role, Jackson will lead the strategic direction of Orchid’s marketing and public relations effort and oversee day-to-day management of the marketing department, Orchid said.
Jackson previously held marketing management positions at Cypress Care, Healthcare Solutions and Optum, a division of United Healthcare Group, the company said. She holds a bachelors degree in marketing and a masters in business administration from Brenau University, Orchid said.
Athens Group, a global provider of offshore inspection services to the marine and oil exploration and production industries, has appointed Jeet Kar as director of marine services.
Kar will oversee the Houston-based company’s expansion into the marine inspection business. Kar was most recently director of marine operations for Global Maritime, Inc. He has delivered and managed delivery of a wide range of marine services, including subject matter expert opinion and warranty services to underwriters, the company said.
“The skill set he brings – a stellar reputation in the marine services industry as well as extensive technical and market knowledge – will accelerate Athens Group’s to expansion into this strategic market,” President and Chief Operating Officer Nestor Fesas said.
Kar previously worked as vice president of EMAS AMC and director of marine operations for Aker Solutions, according to his Linkedin page.
Ametros announced the appointment of Shawn Deane, an expert in Medicare Secondary Payer Act compliance, as general counsel.
The firm, based in Wilmington, Massachusetts, provides post-settlement medical administration services forkers’ compensation and liability claim settlements.
Most recently, Deane served as vice president of Medicare/Medicaid compliance and policy for Verisk/ISO Claims Partners. Prior to that he practiced health care law and he has more than 11 years of experience in property and casualty insurance and workers’ compensation law, Ametros said.
Deane is active in the National Alliance of Medicare Set Aside Professionals (NAMSAP), having served as chair of the webinar and education committees, on the board of directors, and as the organization’s President in 2017. He is a member of the faculty for the Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional Program (CMSP).
A member of the Massachusetts Bar and licensed in both state and federal courts in Massachusetts, he earned his Juris Doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover,. Deane also holds a master’s degree from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Hancock Claims Consultants has appointed Jeffrey Rainville as senior vice president for carrier relations and business development.
Hancock, based in Atlanta, roof and property inspection services to property and casualty carriers. Rainville will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and working with carriers, third-party administrator and independent adjusting partners.
Rainville started his career with Liberty Mutual and The Hanover Group prior to moving to Atlanta to become assistant vice president. He led Custard Insurance Adjusters’ third-party administration division. While at Custard he became vice president of sales, Hancock said.
He later led North American sales and marketing efforts for Polygon (formerly Munters) an international temporary climate control and catastrophe response provider. He also served as vice president of sales with NCP Group, a catastrophe and property adjusting company that he helped form and with CIS Group, a company much like Hancock Claims Consultants.
Most recently, Rainville served as district vice president with CorVel Corp. where he led all New England business activities for the $600 million national property and casualty third-party claims administrator and managed care cost containment provider.
Rainville is a graduate of Syracuse University, with a degree in finance and marketing.
