Claims People: Sompo, PLRB, Goldberg Segalla and HeadsUp Healthcare
Sompo International Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda-based speciality insurer, has appointed Glen Bronstein as executive vice president and head of insurance claims for the North America region.
Bronstein will report to North America Chief Executive Officer Chris Sparro.
Bronstein was previously head of global specialty claims for The Hartford and chief claim officer for The Navigators Group, a Hartford subsidiary. He oversaw specialty claims units and held a variety of senior executive roles at major insurers, Sompo said in a press release.
Bronstein obtained a juris doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also attended the London School of Economics and Political Science and Skidmore College.
The Property & Liability Resource Bureau has appointed Bryan Falchuk as president and chief executive officer.
He succeeds Thomas Mallin, who is retiring after 44 years with the educational group, including 19 as president and CEO.
Falchuk was founder and managing partner of an industry advisory firm Insurance Evolution Partners. He is also author of a book series, The Future of Insurance, and wrote a column for Inc. Magazine.
Falchuk was a strategic advisor and head of growth for Hi Marley, a technology vendor that provides communications tools for insurers. Before then, he was head of insurance and analytics for Guardhat in 2015 and an advisory board member 2015 until this November, according to his LinkedIn profile. Falchuk was also head of claims for Hiscox USA from 2015 to 2018.
Falchuk holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Bowdoin College in Maine and a masters in business administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
PLRB is a nonprofit trade organization based in Chicago that holds educational conferences for property and casualty insurance claims professionals.
The Goldberg Segalla law firm has appointed attorney Daniel R. Woods to its global insurance services group in Chicago.
Woods focuses his practice on the investigation, litigation, and trial of first- and third-party insurance coverage disputes and property claims, including special investigations unit matters involving fraud and dishonesty, and significant personal injury matters, the law firm said in a press release.
Woods obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and his Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
HeadsUp Healthcare, a Tampa-based business that provides speciality care to workers’ compensation patients, appointed Andrea Crawford Carter as vice president of operations.
Carter will oversee all sects of patient, provider and client fulfillment, the company said in a press release.
“Our patients have injuries to the face, teeth and head—everything from broken teeth with exposed nerves to gunshot wounds,” stated Chief Executive Officer Brian Bell. “They require specialists who are not typically found in workers’ comp, and they need to see them fast. Andrea makes sure we fulfill our customer promise to deliver a patient-first experience with speed and empathy.”
Carter has more than 10 years of experience in data analytics, fiscal complinace, customer service and network operations, the company said. Most recently, she served as senior director of network operations for Paradigm. She directed operations at Encompass Specialty Surgical Management, which Paradigm acquired in 2017.
