Claims Business: NYSIF, Alacrity and Tenco
New York State Insurance Fund has launched a new Claim Mobile App to improve communication and provide injured workers with real-time information about their workers’ compensation claims.
The app allows claimants to access their claim status and a schedule of upcoming events that are important to their claim, NYSIF said in a press release. Claimants also have one-touch access to their prescription card and can email their case manager and sign up to receive benefit payments by direct deposit.
The NYSIF Claim Mobile App can be fuond in app stores for both iOS and Android devices by searching “NYSIF Claim.” It is one of a a few apps that was created and designed for workers’ compensation claims, NYSIF said.
NYSIF has determined approximately 86% of its claimants have access to smart phones and expects this to help injured workers better manage their claims.
Alacrity Solutions Group, a property and casualty adjusting service based in Fishers, Indiana, has acquired Cross Country Adjusting in Pageland, South Carolina.
The acquisition of CCA is Alacrity’s 15th acquisition since 2015. In addition to adjusting services, Alacrity offers staffing, temporary housing, a managed repair network, and subrogation and recovery services to national and regional insurance companies, managing general agents, third-party administrators, self-insured corporations, and the government sector, the company said in a press release.
BlackRock, an investment house based in New York City, acquired a majority stake in Alacrity earlier this year. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
Tenco Services Inc., a family-run independent claims adjusting firm based in Nashville, has acquired James C. Green Co. of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Greene Co. is also a family run, independent adjust firm, founded in 1932. The company has offices in both North Carolina and South Carolina, Tenco said in a press release.
The combined company will have more than 75 claims adjusters, the company said.
Tenco, founded in 1947, has offices in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
