Medical Price Index Shows Increases in Workers’ Comp and Auto Injury Services Costs
Physician charges per unit increased by 11% nationally for worker’s compensation from the first quarter of 2020 through the first quarter of 2023, a new report shows.
Enlyte’s latest Quarterly Medical Price Index Report delves into first- and third-party auto and workers’ comp claims using data from the top 200 billing procedures in professional services.
The report shows Texas and California had the largest increases with 11% increase in charges for medical services. New York had a 3% increase in charge per unit spurred by the increase in fee schedule changes, according to the report.
In first-party claims, New York, Michigan, New Jersey, and Florida saw noteworthy changes in charge severity, the report shows.
