Glassdoor: Adjusters Dislike, Fear AI More Than Others

Claims adjusters hate AI the most, a new report shows.

A report on how workers feel about AI shows the insurance sector, and claims adjusters in particular, feel anxious about AI.

The report from Glassdoor shows most workers feel a bit anxious about AI.

“The anxiety these workers feel is justified by the occupation’s job postings data from Indeed and government payroll data, both of which have shown steep declines over the past year,” the report states. “While claims adjusters are not typically mentioned when discussing AI job replacement, these jobs may represent another canary in the coal mine of AI job disruption.”

Employee confidence in insurance is typically higher than in other sectors, but since May, the trailing three-month average has been at an all-time low for employee confidence in the insurance sector.

According to employee reviews on Glassdoor, AI may have something to do with that. Insurance was the third-most AI-critical industry of AI, with 81% of comments being negative. AI sentiment among AI adjusters was decidedly negative: 98% of comments about AI were critical between June 2025 and May 2026 compared with 53% across all jobs.

Glassdoor reviews align with the most common criticisms of AI policies:

• “AI has replaced thousands of people. It’s not a good or secure place to work.”
• “They’re tracking and forcing individual AI usage seemingly company-wide.” and “You often have to spend 15–20 minutes correcting AI‑generated mistakes because supervisors don’t verify anything; heavy reliance on AI to do claims work.”
• “…New AI involvement makes me feel dubious about the accuracy of some claim activities.”

The report includes data from Indeed showing postings for adjuster positions are down 55% from their post-pandemic peak compared with 36% for the rest of the labor market. Postings for entry-level adjuster roles have fallen nearly 50% since early 2024 versus 15% for the labor market as a whole.

“And the corresponding rise in demand for senior-level roles is consistent with a story where experienced workers are increasingly able to automate entry-level tasks with AI – a particular concern for inexperienced claims adjusters who often follow specific formulas that can be outsourced to agentic AI,” the report states.

The report shows that adjuster employment in September 2023 at 65,700. In the past year, claims adjusters lost 13,100 jobs, a large portion of he 74,800 jobs lost in the broader sector.
