CAS Ratemaking Seminar March 27-28
The impact of mold on the insurance industry, current challenges in workers’ compensation experience rating, emerging issues in finite reinsurance and new developments in the cost of financing insurance are some of the topics slated for discussion at the annual Ratemaking Seminar of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), March 27-28 at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio.
The seminar provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of ratemaking methods, concepts and issues. Sessions are available for insurance professionals with ratemaking knowledge levels that vary from limited to advanced. The seminar also provides an opportunity for actuaries to further their continuing education.
A general session will focus on the impact of mold on the industry, the science behind mold and potential options for assuring continued availability and affordability. The session will also address the impact of mold on individuals and what is being done to educate consumers about mold.
In addition, new sessions will look at data warehousing, application service providers, workers’ comp, small business owners policies, policyholder retention, sport utility vehicles and insurance costs, catastrophes and other risks, finite reinsurance, credit scoring, the cost of financing insurance, and geographical spatial analysis in territorial ratemaking.
Other topics include: data management, ratemaking relativities, data warehousing, rating algorithms, emerging risk, captive formation, medical malpractice pricing, surety ratemaking, directors and officers liability, enterprise risk management, regulatory issues, concepts in credibility, the actuary as an expert witness, and reinsurance pricing.
The fee is $625 for active candidates, Affiliates, Associates and Fellows of the CAS, and $725 for non-CAS members, if received on or before March 7. Fees increase $50 after that date.
