TWCC Presents Educational Seminar in Midland
The Workers’ Health and Safety division of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission will present a one-day educational seminar on Warehouse Safety on Wednesday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The seminar will take place at the Holiday Inn, Tall City Room, 4300 West Wall (West Business 20), Midland, Texas. The cost is $90 per person.
As the use of warehouses by businesses has increased, the number of warehouse worker injuries has reportedly risen.
Some of the main causes of worker injuries in warehouses are forklifts overturning, improper manual handling and lifting, people being struck by machinery and vehicles, slips and falls, and chemical splashes. This course will provide guidance for preventing injuries and making the warehouse a safer place to work.
The following topics will be discussed during this course:
*powered industrial trucks;
*means of egress and fire protection;
*material handling, lifting, and ergonomics;
*walking surfaces and working environment; and
*hazard communication.
