Engineering and Fire Investigations Earns Laboratory Certification
Texas-based Engineering and Fire Investigations (EFI) has received accreditation by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) for microbiology and bacterial laboratories.
The distinction elevates EFI (www.efiinfo.com), which offers mold and bacterial assessments to private and commercial customers, to an elite group of companies across the country that have met the stringent qualifications for certification.
“It is vital that mold and bacterial testing be accurate, since the results determine the extent or existence of a problem, and important health decisions are based on the results,” said Michael Thompson, president and CEO of EFI. “The third party certification of our lab provides an extra guarantee for our clients, so they can make necessary decisions with confidence. For example, if a school must be evacuated due to dangerous mold levels, one would want the assurance that the testing was accurate.”
The AIHA certification was issued after a comprehensive analysis of EFI’s lab facility, including a review of equipment and quality control
procedures, reporting methods, and the handling, transport and disposal of testing samples.
Dr. Seema Patel, laboratory manager, also had to prove that systems were in place to continually evaluate operations and procedures
to detect error.
“We are pleased that we have been able to reach this distinction,” said Patel. “We are committed to maintaining the highest operating standard in our facility, in order to provide quick and accurate service for our clients.”
