Louisiana Agent Arrested for Forgery, Theft
The Louisiana Department of Insurance reported that a Jennings, La. insurance agent (producer) was booked on charges of forgery and theft in the latest of a series of insurance fraud arrests around the state.
Shari Vincent Conner, 30, was arrested by the State Police Fraud Unit and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Prison, Insurance Commissioner Robert Wooley said.
At the time of the arrest, DOI fraud investigators issued a summary suspension of Conner’s insurance license along with an order that she cease and desist from conducting any insurance business operations.
The C&D order states that Conner admitted to writing three insurance company checks payable to a relative and forging the name of an authorized insurance company representative on the checks before cashing them herself. It also states that she filed, and collected on, three fraudulent towing claims under her own personal automobile policy.
DOI records show Conner’s last business address to be 2108 Oak Park Blvd. in Lake Charles. Her residence address is 8510 Martin Roy Road in Jennings. She had been licensed to sell life and health insurance from March of 2000 until today’s action, and she held a license to sell property and casualty insurance from April 2000 until May of 2003.
