Reynolds to Address Texas Workers’ Comp Symposium
The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) announced that Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission Executive Director Dick Reynolds will speak on the Texas workers’ compensation system at ICT’s second annual workers’ comp symposium in Austin on May 5.
Reynolds will kick-off the symposium with a morning address at 8:45 a.m. Larry Hochstetler, NCCI’s State Relations executive for Texas, will follow Reynolds with details of a survey on the national and Texas workers’ comp system. State Rep. Jack Stick (R-Austin) will present a legislator’s perspective on the state of the system. Ron Luke of RPC Consulting will offer an insight on what’s driving the costs of the Texas workers’ comp system.
ICT’s General Counsel, Dick Geiger, will be the luncheon speaker and provide a look ahead at the 2005 Texas Legislative Session and workers’ compensation issues.
The afternoon session will offer an update on medical benefits and a look at workers’ comp fraud.
The symposium will conclude with a panel discussion that includes State Rep. Burt Solomons (R-Carrollton); Richard Levy, legal director of the Texas AFL-CIO; Lucinda Saxon, VP of governmental affairs at the Texas Association of Business; Lee Ann Alexander, VP of public affairs and legislative counsel at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.; Michael Cushman, attorney and lobbyist for health care providers; and Dr. David T. Teuscher, an orthopedic surgeon representing the Texas Medical Association.
Registration and a continental breakfast for the symposium begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 6505 North IH 35, in Austin.
