Carfax Aids Texans During Auto Theft Prevention Month
The Texas Department of Transportation reports that more than 100,000 vehicles are stolen every year in Texas, with more than 9,000 of these thefts occurring in the month of July alone. As a result, state authorities have designated July as Auto Theft Prevention Month.
Carfax, a provider of vehicle history reports, is offering consumers throughout Texas a discounted rate on its reports during this month in recognition of the program. Many vehicles that have been reported stolen are flagged in the Carfax report using the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). In the past year, Carfax reportedly helped recover approximately 198 vehicles by working with law enforcement agencies and government organizations.
“The fact that a motor vehicle is stolen every 27 seconds in this country is of great concern to us,” said Alethea Christon, consumer affairs manager at Carfax. “We applaud the efforts of the Texas state authorities who are working to decrease auto theft in the state and are happy lend a hand to consumers in support of Auto Theft Prevention Month.”
