SIIS to Hold Fall Conference in Fort Worth
Southwestern Insurance Information Service announced that “Legislation, Regulation and Education” is the theme of its 51st Annual Fall Conference, to be held Sept. 19-20, 2004, at the Doral Tesoro Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas.
“We have arranged a diverse group of speakers who will be addressing issues of contemporary interest to insurers,” said Sandra Ray, public affairs director for the association.
Texas Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor will kick-off the meeting and discuss “Implementation of Insurance Reform,” followed by Wayne Sneed, a nationally recognized fraud expert and director of internal affairs for the Office of Inspector General who will present the latest deterrents to identity theft and insurance fraud.
Ethics continues to be a subject of intense interest to insurers and the law firm of Fanning, Harper & Martinson, P. C., will conduct a continuing education seminar of this issue, Ray said.
The meeting will close with a legislative panel discussing current and future insurance issues in Texas. Panel members invited to participate are: State Senators Kim Brimer and Kip Averitt, and State Representatives John Smithee, Helen Giddings and Larry Taylor.
Southwestern Insurance Information Service is the oldest insurance state trade association in the U.S. representing more than eighty-five percent of the property and casualty insurers in Texas.
