Okla. Boat Broker Sunk After Guilty Fraud Plea
An Oklahoma City man will reportedly pay more than $82,000 consumer restitution after pleading guilty to fraud in Oklahoma County District Court, Attorney General Drew Edmondson said.
Zachary A. Bandy pled guilty to five counts of violating the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act. In addition to $82,089 restitution, Bandy was sentenced to a five-year deferred sentence. He also was ordered to pay a $1,250 fine as well as victim compensation assessment and court costs.
Bandy, owner of the now defunct American Boat Brokers in Oklahoma City, allegedly agreed to act as a broker or assist in advertising for consumers who wanted to sell boats and jet skis. The state alleged the money he received from the sales was never forwarded to the original owners.
Bandy was charged April 9 after an investigation by the attorney general’s Consumer Protection Unit.
