Galveston Gulf Coast Board Elects New Board Members
The Galveston Gulf Coast Insurance Board recently elected new Board members to lead the organization for the 2005-2006 term.
Leah Calloway, with Truman Taylor Insurance, was elected president. Other officers include: Vice President Mike Tarlton, with Texas Affordable Insurance; Secretary Gigi Heffernan, with Heffernan Insurance Agency; and Treasurer Maggie Adams, with A & P Insurance Center.
“I’m looking forward to the new year as president,” said Leah Calloway, manager of Truman Taylor Insurance in Friendswood. “One of our goals as an association is to be well informed advocates for our area to serve not only our individual customers, but also our communities.”
The Galveston Gulf Coast Insurance Board is comprised of two organizations that merged in 2003 – the Gulf Coast Insurance Agents and the Galveston Insurance Board, and has 19 agency members and additional associate members. The group was formed to give agents in the Galveston County area leverage and credibility with the Texas Department of Insurance on issues prevalent to the local community, including floods, hurricanes and windstorms.
“It’s important to stay involved as leaders in the industry, in order to keep abreast of current issues, trends and product developments, as well as take an active role in future legislation,” said Calloway.
Local businesses involved with The Galveston Gulf Coast Insurance Board are Town & Country, A & P Insurance, Heffernan Insurance Agency, Craig Insurance, Galveston Insurance Agency, Grace White Insurance, Insurance Connection, Texas Affordable Insurance, Truman Taylor Insurance and MaximInsurance.
The Galveston Gulf Coast Insurance Board is actively involved in the community, sponsoring events like Fire Prevention Week and hosting frequent continuing education classes on insurance issues.
The Galveston Insurance Board was incorporated in 1924 and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. For more information, contact Leah Calloway at (281) 482-1212 or Mike Tarlton at (281) 280-0990.
