Central Texas All Industry Day to Take Place March 1
The Central Texas Chapter of CPCU Society and the Austin Association of Insurance Professionals will host the 2006 All Insurance Industry Day March 1 at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin.
The schedule of events includes:
8:30-9:30 a.m. – Legislative Update – “TDI Hot Topics” – What has been happening to workers’ compensation, homeowners and auto markets, and other regulatory and legislative issues – some of which have been spotlighted due to natural catastrophe activity. Instructor: Audrey Selden, senior associate commissioner, Consumer Protection, Texas Department of Insurance. One hour CE credit approved.
8:30-10:30 a.m. (with break) – Ethics in Insurance – Core ethical values and ethical challenges in the business of insurance. Instructor: Paul Martin, director of Education, IIAT. Two hours CE credit approved.
10:00-11:30 a.m. – Catastrophe Risk Financing, Disaster Risk Management/Business Continuity Planning, and the Reinsurance Markets – a panel discussion- industry leaders provide insightful observations on the current state of the reinsurance markets, risk financing, and the challenges of rebuilding / continuity planning. Panel includes: Jim Oliver, Texas Windstorm Association; Tony Provenzale, Benfield Group, Paul Pousson, Risk Management, UT Systems; and Dan Bailey, Protiviti. Moderator: Marvin Kelly (TPCIGA). 1.5 hrs CE (being filed).
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. – The Impact of HB7 on the Texas Workers’ Compensation System -Highlights of key reform measures and their impact on the handling of Workers’ Compensation in Texas. Instructor: Jan Kearbey. One hour CE credit approved.
12:00 Noon – Lunch – Featuring Audrey Selden, senior associate commissioner, Consumer Protection, Texas Department of Insurance as keynote speaker, with recognition of CPCU and IIA Course Completers.
