June 12 is Okla. Disaster Application Deadline for March Storms
FEMA announced that Delaware County, Okla., residents and business owners affected by the March 12 storms and tornadoes have only a few days left to apply for disaster assistance. June 12, 2006 is the last day applications will be accepted for individual assistance.
Registering with the American Red Cross, or your insurance company doesn’t mean you’ve registered with the Federal emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
“Now is the time to call or go online and get into the system before the June 12 deadline,” says Bill Peterson, FEMA Region VI regional director. “You may be eligible for temporary housing and Other Needs Assistance grants because of your losses and displacement from your storm-devastated home.”
There are two easy ways to begin the application process. You may call FEMA’s toll-free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and multilingual operators are also available to answer your call. Those with Internet access now have the option to register on the agency’s Web site at www.fema.gov where valuable recovery information is also available.
