La. Commissioner Candidate Will Brief Press in New Orleans Aug. 23
James David Cain, a Louisiana state lawmaker and candidate for insurance commissioner, announced he will hold a press conference on Aug. 23, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. CDT in New Orleans to address the insurance crisis that is undermining the ability of that city to rebuild.
The press conference will take place in the Smith-Lupo Center parking lot, in front of the former Walgreens, at the intersection of Robert E. Lee Blvd & West End Blvd.
According to Cain’s announcement, he will brief the press on his plan to restructure Citizens’ Insurance, restore accountability to the rate approval process, and prepare the state to handle future catastrophes. He will also take questions regarding the recent discussions over the need for an “insurance summit” or special legislative session.
Senator Cain will be joined by Representative Emile “Peppi” Bruneau (R- New Orleans) and Senator Edwin Murray (D-New Orleans).
