Texas Advisory Council on Arson Elects Officers
A Texas Advisory Council on Arson (ATAC) has elected new officers for 2007.
David Mitchell, property claims supervisor for the Republic Groups, has been elected president. Stacy Singleton, director of emergency operations in Burleson, was elected vice president. Kay Viney, KLV Consulting in Addison, was elected secretary/treasurer. Each officer was elected to a two-year term.
Members of the ATAC board who were elected to three year terms were Daniel Lesslie, arson investigator in Carrollton,; Howard Hill, fire marshal in Hurst; Steve Shaw, detective with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office; Stephen Seddig, fire marshal in Wylie; David Mitchell, Stacy Singleton; and Kay Viney.
ATAC members include fire, police, industrial and insurance representatives who are concerned about arson in Texas. ATAC funds the Arson Hotline, which is answered seven days a week, 24-hours a day and every caller remains anonymous. Calls that lead to legitimate arrests may result in a reward.
The Arson Hotline number is 1-877-4-FIRE-45 (1-877-434-7345).
The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) provides the administrative support in keeping ATAC operational on a daily basis. ICT staff members also publish and distribute the ATAC newsletter and work closely with the State Fire Marshal’s Office in responding to calls from the Arson Hotline.
