Unlicensed La. Agency Employee Fined, Told to ‘Cease and Desist’
An insurance agency employee in the Zachary, La., area has been issued a cease and desist order and fine notice for acting as an agent without a license, misappropriation of insurance premiums and forgery, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
Shanon K. Brian, 41, was served with a C&D and $5,000 fine notice by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators for allegedly acting as an agent without a license, misappropriating funds and forgery.
It is alleged that while working as a secretary in an insurance agency, Brian manufactured insurance proof of loss, forged letters and signatures, made false declaration pages and collected premiums which she allocated to her own accounts.
Department records show that Brian has never held a license to conduct the business of insurance.
