Texas Windstorm Pool Takes Over Property Inspection Duties
The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association recently announced it is assuming the responsibility of getting exterior photographs and inspecting all structures submitted for coverage, whether residential or commercial.
Exterior inspection will be performed by a TWIA representative within 60 days after submission for coverage.
TWIA also will check for certificates of compliance (WPI-8’s) on file with the Texas Department of Insurance where necessary, eliminating the need to attach certificates of compliance with an application.
The association’s E-Quote application also has an added area on the “item tab” entitled “Valuation Source”. Agents are advised to enter the appropriate replacement cost source information in the field provided.
Access to TWIA’s MSB program is provided on each “item” screen by clicking on the underlined “Replacement Cost” link. All commercial applications must be accompanied by an MSB RC calculation using the program available on TWIA’s web site.
Agents should record the previous policy number in the field provided on the E-Quote application to that prior policy information on file will be moved forward to the current policy.
