The LSU AgCenter compiled preliminary estimates of the agriculture and fisheries losses caused by Hurricane Gustav. A look at the estimated losses and the percent of crop value:

Rice, $29.3 million, 7.56 percent.
Corn, $45.8 million, 10.74 percent.
Sorghum, $2.5 million, 5.31 percent.
Cotton, $112.3 million, 47.32 percent.
Sugar cane, $72.8 million, 12.5 percent.
Soybeans, $60.8 million, 14.61 percent.
Sweet potatoes, $26.8 million, 40.93 percent.
Pecans, $3 million, 35 percent.
Horticulture, $5 million, 3.13 percent.
Dairy, $2.3 million, 2.73 percent.
Forage/Hay, $3.5 million, 2.47 percent.
Timber, $8.2 million, 0.75 percent.
Total, $372.3 million, 10.2 percent.
