Texas Issues Data Call to Insurers in Hurricane Ike’s Aftermath
The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) is conducting a mandatory data call for certain information related to claims in the counties of Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Chambers, Cherokee, Fort Bend, Galveston, Gregg, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington and Wharton resulting from Hurricane Ike.
This call for data is designed to provide TDI with immediate access to information necessary to determine the financial and other impacts of the claims related to Hurricane Ike on the various property and casualty insurers doing business in the State of Texas, including surplus lines insurers, and the property and casualty industry as a whole.
TDI directed all of the above-referenced insurers, and their agents and representatives to provide data in accordance with the Hurricane Ike Reporting Requirements Memorandum dated Sept. 19, 2008. The 10-day time period otherwise required for responses to inquiries made by TDI is extended for the limited purpose of facilitating full compliance with the reporting requirements.

Certain property and casualty insurers doing business in the State of Texas will be required to file additional data related to complaints and adjusting of claims.
TDI will monitor carriers for compliance with this Bulletin.
