Louisiana Port Suffers $1.5 Million in Damages from Ike
Officials said the Port of Lake Charles suffered nearly $1.5 million in damage to freight services and other critical facilities during Hurricane Ike.
Port Director Adam McBride said it will cost about $500,000 to repair 38 rail cars that were flooded after the storm — the most expensive project on the list.
McBride said other repair work includes $200,000 in shoreline restoration at the Westlake property and another $200,000 to fix rail line that was washed out during Ike.
He said it could take several months before the repairs are completed.
