La. Man Sentenced in Scheme to Defraud Insurer
A New Orleans man has been sentenced to six months in prison for his role in a scheme to defraud an insurance company in a claim over a car accident.
U.S. District Judge Lance Africk also on Thursday sentenced 52-year-old Randolph Polk Jr. to two years of supervised release and ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service for his role in a conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
Prosecutors say Polk conspired with others to falsify his tax returns for a civil case against Old Republic Insurance Co. Based in part on those returns, a jury awarded Polk $750,000 for lost wages and other damages.
