Mechanic Sentenced for Fraud Against Texas Mutual
Texas Mutual Insurance Company reported that a Travis County district court sentenced David John Beatty of Flower Mound, Texas, on workers’ compensation fraud-related charges.
The court sentenced Beatty to five years’ probation and 100 hours of community service. It also ordered him to repay $5,074 to Texas Mutual.
Beatty reported a job-related injury while working as a mechanic for Crash Rescue Equipment Service of Dallas, according to the insurer. He claimed he was unable to work as a result of the injury, and Texas Mutual began paying him income benefits.
Meanwhile, Texas Mutual investigators uncovered evidence that Beatty was working in a warehouse for another company while receiving income benefits, the company said.
