Oklahoma Man Sentenced in Workers’ Compensation Fraud Case
A Tulsa, Okla., man who pleaded guilty to staging a robbery and faking a workplace injury has been sentenced in Tulsa County District Court on one count of workers’ compensation fraud, Attorney General Drew Edmondson announced.
Christopher Cox, 35, was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentenced and ordered to pay almost $5,000 in restitution after pleading guilty in February.
Investigators with Edmondson’s workers’ compensation fraud unit alleged Cox, a former employee at Westlake Ace Hardware in Broken Arrow, claimed that he was injured after being hit in the head during a robbery at the store.
Cox was treated for the bogus injury through the state’s workers’ compensation system.
