Unemployment Insurance Claims Fall in Louisiana
First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Feb. 13 have decreased over the previous week.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission says there were 3,477 initial claims in the latest count. That’s down from the previous week’s total of 4,702.
For the comparable week that ended Feb. 14, 2009, there were 4,053 first-time claims for jobless benefits.
For the week ending Feb. 13, there were 62,128 additional weeks of benefits claimed by those still looking for work. That was a slight decrease from the previous week’s total of 62,670.
A year ago, 40,067 additional weeks of payments were claimed by the jobless.
