Recent Oklahoma Storms Included 6 EF-3 Tornadoes
The National Weather Service says the deadly storms that hit Oklahoma on May 10 included six EF-3 tornadoes, one EF-2 and three EF-1. The tornadoes killed at least two people and injured more than 100.
State and federal damage assessment teams have headed to Oklahoma to tour areas hit by deadly tornadoes.
Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Michelann Ooten says the agency’s investigators were joining those from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The teams were to meet with local emergency managers for preliminary damage assessments in Oklahoma and Pottawatomie counties.
The assessments will help determine whether the areas qualify for federal disaster assistance.
Other areas will be assessed later.
