Louisiana Auditor Models Oil Spill Claim Form on FEMA Forms
Louisiana’s local government officials are no strangers to filing reimbursement forms for disaster expenses, so the state’s legislative auditor has drawn up oil spill claims forms that are similar to those already used after hurricanes.
Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera said his office has created a standardized set of forms that local governments can use to seek reimbursement for their spill response and cleanup efforts from BP PLC.
Purpera says he modeled the forms after the Federal Emergency Management Agency paperwork that local governments fill out to get reimbursed for their hurricane response efforts.
He told the Legislative Audit Advisory Council that he’s met with BP officials to show them the forms, and he hopes they’ll agree to use them as a standardized reimbursement claim.
