Small Earthquake Reported in Southeast Oklahoma

October 4, 2010

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.1-magnitude earthquake has shaken parts of southeastern Oklahoma.

The survey reports that the quake occurred around 4:40 p.m. Oct. 1 about 10 miles west of McAlester.

There were no reports of damage or injuries associated with the temblor.

Researchers have said earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.5 and 3.0 are typically the smallest felt by humans.
