New Orleans Man Gets Prison for Arson for Insurance Scheme

February 28, 2011

A New Orleans man has been sentenced to six years in prison for plotting to set fire to his own house and file a false insurance claim.

A federal judge on Feb. 25 also ordered 43-year-old Damian Landry to pay more than $91,000 in restitution to the insurer.

Landry pleaded guilty in June to participating in the 2002 insurance fraud scheme.

His co-defendants, David Samuels and Charles Moss, were convicted at a trial earlier this month and are awaiting sentencing.
