Louisiana Sending Search Team to Alabama
Louisiana is sending a 120-person search team to help with recovery efforts in storm-ravaged areas of Alabama.
State police said in a news release that the Urban Search and Rescue team began preparations on Sunday for deployment to Tuscaloosa.
State police Superintendent Mike Edmonson says 20 state troopers trained to deal with safety, security and crowd control in weather-related emergencies were put on standby soon after the killer tornado hit Alabama last week. In addition, he directed state Fire Marshal Butch Browning to prepare for deployment of the Urban Search and Rescue team.
