Lawsuit Settlement Puts Arkansas’ Dogpatch USA in New Hands

A judge has signed an order that awards the former Dogpatch USA amusement park in north Arkansas to the rider of an all-terrain vehicle who was injured on the property.

Circuit Judge Shawn Womack ruled that the property is to be turned over to settle a $650,000 judgment against the park’s owners.

The Harrison Daily Times reports that Pruett Nance struck a throat-high cable strung between two trees at the property in 2005. Nance won the judgment against park owners, including Michael Carr.

The park owners had to put up the land as a security in case the judgment was not paid. Tuesday’s order placed the land in the hands of Nance and his son.

The park opened in 1968 and closed in 1993 after it went into bankruptcy.
