Arkansas’ Tyson Foods Contests OSHA Fine Over Fatal Silo Collapse
Tyson Foods Inc. has contested a $70,000 fine levied by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration following the collapse of a silo that killed a man at Tyson’s feed mill in Nashville.
OSHA issued the fine June 1 after finding the company committed “willful” safety violations that led to the Dec. 9 collapse that killed 48-year-old Johnny Needham of Lockesburg.
U.S. Department of Labor spokesman Juan Rodriguez told the Texarkana Gazette that the case file that includes the letter contesting the findings will not be released until the case is closed.
