Residents in 2 Arkansas Counties Face Deadline for Aid
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says residents in Franklin and Johnson counties whose property was damaged by tornadoes or severe storms that struck May 24 through May 26 have two weeks left to seek government disaster assistance.
FEMA officials said Monday the deadline to register for aid is Sept. 6.
Officials say nearly 400 individuals and families in the two counties have registered with FEMA to be considered for individual assistance grants or for low interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Applicants can register at www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
Federal coordinating officer Nancy Casper says so far, FEMA and the SBA have approved grants and loans totaling nearly $2.2 million for disaster survivors in both counties.
