Arkansas Averaged 46 Tornadoes Over 10-Year Period
According to a graphic released Monday by the National Weather Service, the state saw an average of 46 twisters annually from 2001 to 2010. Another graphic showed there were 39 tornado deaths from 2001 to 2010.
Officials in the weather service’s Little Rock office noted that the 30-year average showed Arkansas had 26 tornadoes a year from 1970 to 2000. They said the average number of fatalities attributed to tornadoes was four.
