Hackers Steal $37K From Arkansas Library Account
The Jonesboro Public Library in Arkansas says someone hacked into its computers and stole more than $37,000 from its bank account.
The Jonesboro Sun reports Wednesday that Liberty Bank, which runs the library’s account sent an email last week that a transaction for $40,000 was set to be paid.
No one knew about it until they saw the email.
Nancy Dobbins, the library’s business manager, called the bank and found out that someone had already taken $37,514 on Sept. 14.
The library closed its bank accounts and turned Dobbins’ computer over to a specialist at the Jonesboro Police Department. No one at the library or bank is suspected of wrongdoing.
