Louisiana Elevator Falls, People Trapped
An elevator in the American Tower in downtown Shreveport fell several stories with one person suffering minor injuries.
According to the Times, three people were on board when the elevator fell five floors before it braked, stopping at the second floor Tuesday afternoon.
Arriving firefighters were unable to open the closed elevator with the emergency key and had to force entry using the Jaws of Life.
Firefighters say the unidentified injured 24-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of back pain.
