Scrap Metal Thefts Increase in Louisiana Parish
Authorities say the high prices being paid for scrap metal and copper are keeping Union Parish sheriff’s investigators busy.
The New Star reports that four people were arrested Thursday and Friday and warrants issued for another suspect.
Twenty-eight-year-old Titus Douglas, of Marion was arrested Thursday, and accused of stealing pipe and channel iron from property in Marion.
Warrants on the same charges have been issued for the arrest of 23-year-old Darandall Richards, also known as Darandall Boyette, also of Marion.
Arrested Friday and charged with theft of scrap iron from an old garment factory in Junction City was Darin T. Brown. The theft occurred in May.
Also arrested Friday for burglarizing the same garment factory building were Herlandes Frazie, and Roosevelt Harris, both of Junction City.
