NWS: Small Tornado Did Damage Near Louisiana Airport
The National Weather Service says Terrebonne Parish homes damaged in strong weather early Wednesday were struck by at least one small tornado.
The Courier reports the tornado, no more than 50 yards wide, flipped over a helicopter at the airport and damaged houses in the Lafayette Woods neighborhood.
Wednesday morning’s storms also caused some damage in Terrebonne’s Patriot Point neighborhood. The weather service say the damage in that area was caused by strong straight-line winds, not a tornado.
