Mayor: Electric Scooters Becoming Problem in Louisiana Town
He tells KATC-TV that nobody’s been seriously injured, but there have been close calls.
The scooters are legal on roads with speed limits under 25 mph. But council members are thinking about limiting where they can be driven in town.
Fontenot says they’re also talking about ways to make scooters more visible, such as orange vests for drivers or flags on the scooters. The matter will be discussed at the January meeting.
Woodrow Wilson says he hasn’t had a close call on his scooter, but more sidewalks would help.
Earl Apache said his scooter can go 60 miles on a charge, so he drives it out of town.
