Arkansas City Hall, Other Buildings Burn in Fire
Fire has destroyed the city hall building and most of the structures on a block in Kensett, Ark.
Authorities say no one was in any of the buildings when the blaze erupted Sunday night, and no injuries were reported.
Fire Chief Allen Edge told the Searcy Daily Citizen the fire started in or near an apartment building and spread to a storage business next door.
The flames then overtook city hall and a building that was being converted into a food pantry for a local church.
Mayor Max McDonald said he’ll likely call a special council meeting to decide what to do about the fire loss. The building was donated about 10 years ago.
The state fire marshal is expected to investigate Monday morning.
