Police say the theft happened shortly before the store closed Monday night.
According to police the man viewed several rings and then said he wanted to buy a $9,000 one. A surveillance video shows the man walking briskly toward the front of the store before breaking out in a run.
Police say the suspect is a white man between 40 and 50 years old with gray hair, a goatee and mustache. The clerk told police he had thick, calloused hands.
