Float Collapses in Louisiana Parade, 2 Injured
Police say flat tires caused a float carrying close to three dozen riders to collapse during the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Slidell, La., injuring two people.
Assistant Police Chief Kevin Foltz tells The Times-Picayune Float 43 was making a turn when two tires on the float’s east side went flat, causing it to topple over, with the top section of the float falling to the ground.
Foltz said one woman who was riding on the tractor-pulled float at the time it collapsed was taken to the hospital with a laceration to the head, while another rider had minor injuries. He did not identify the injured riders.
