3 Plead Innocent to Louisiana Cemetery Vandalism
Three people who authorities say damaged more than two dozen graves and headstones at three cemeteries have pleaded not guilty to felony vandalism charges.
The American Press reports 19-year-old Sebastian Abshire, 18-year-old Joselyn Mire and a 17-year-old entered their pleas Monday in 31st Judicial District Court in Jennings, La.
They will stand trial June 18.
The three are accused of painting profanity and graffiti on more than a dozen graves and headstones at Calvary and Greenwood cemeteries in Jennings; breaking windows and spray-painting graffiti at the Greenwood mausoleum; and knocking over about 15 headstones and breaking vases and other mementoes at Doucet Cemetery near Hathaway in February.
The damage has been estimated at $30,000.
Abshire remains in jail while Mire and the juvenile are free on bond.
