Substitute Bus Driver Arrested for Texting in Louisiana
A substitute bus driver has been arrested in Louisiana for texting while driving and school officials say he could face dismissal as a result.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert says 32-year-old Randy Paul, of Franklin, was booked Tuesday for texting while operating a motor vehicle after someone complained of his alleged actions while several children were on the bus. Texting behind the wheel is a primary offense in Louisiana, meaning police can stop a driver for the offense without having to witness any other violation.
Schools Superintendent Donald Aguillard told the Morgan City Daily Review that Paul was servicing a route for Berwick schools. Pending an investigation, Aguillard says Paul could be fired.
Paul was released and issued a summons for a Dec. 12 court appearance.
